Choose a Family Reunification Site

Talk about issues with entire family

Practice the plan (make it fun but real, and try it at night with the electricity off)

Identify safe places in each room:

1. under sturdy furniture (desk, table)
2. against inside wall
3. away from glass or heavy bookcases/furniture

Family Reunification Site

Decide on a safe area (refuge) where family will reunify after earthquake

Have plans for each family member to reach refuge

Refuge site should be near your home, in the open, away from hazards
(buildings, trees, telephone and electrical lines, overpasses)

Have a telephone contact out of the area
(preferably someone out of state who can relay messages)
