Combination
of churches and chickens
Hammocks
and swings hanging while
Empty
tracks glimmer in blinding heat
Folks
sitting around on porches
Watching
it all go on by
Take 2
Mexican
faces, Indian places
The
Kings Highway carving through
Desert
days and ocean haze
Eucalyptus
and fennel smells
Commerce
in the scent of human sweat
Billboards
and gas stations blow by
Garbage
tossed aimlessly by the roadside
Breaks
the monotony of parched greenery and
American
vistas allowed the legacy of Spanish names
Something I came up with
while travelling the endless
highways and byways of California.
