Beware of Email Scam Impersonating SBA

The Small Business Association (SBA) warns everyone who is seeking financial aid from SBA’s Economic Injury Disaster Loan Program to beware of scam emails! These phishing emails look real but they ask for personal data and lead you to a fake third-party website. Note the sender email should end in sba.gov, otherwise, it is not from SBA.

Email phishing scammers ask for your personal data (Personally Identifiable Information or PII) that lets them access your bank accounts or install malicious software on your computer. If you notice that the email you've received is not from SBA, DO NOT click any links or download any files from that email. The link or the file might cause harm to your computer and gather all your personal details from your computer and steal your identity.

SBA loan applicants can call their customer service at 1-800-659-2955 (TTY: 1-800-877-8339) or send an email to This email address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it..

If you've received other COVID-related fraudulent messages, you can file a complaint with the US Department of Justice.
