WordPress is releasing its second major update this year on August 11 packed with features and improvements.

As a user, you’ll see automatic updates for plugins and themes, a block directory, XML sitemaps, lazy-loading images, and the latest and greatest featured in the block editor. As a developer, you’ll see 157 enhancements and feature requests, 307 bug fixes, and more!
 
New Features Includes:

• Default Lazy Load Images - only downloads images that are visible on the user’s browser screen and increases page load times
• Default WordPress XML Sitemaps - helps search engines like Google to easily discover and index your content.
• Block Patterns - groups of pre-configured blocks that users can insert into their posts or pages at the click of a button
• Tons of refinements for web developers
