Marin County Has Dropped One Tier

This week, Marin County's COVID status went back to Tier 2. California has criteria for the activities in each county and locals can find the status of activities in your county. Learn more about the Tiers and know which businesses are allowed to operate and more.

“We’re choosing to move into the red tier before the state moves us to get in front of this surge,” Marin County Public Health Officer Dr. Matt Willis said. “We’re seeing more people getting sick with COVID-19 and needing hospitalization. With flu season and potential impacts from holiday gatherings and travel, it’s time to act to prevent a much larger surge.”

For restaurants, Marin County going back to Tier 2 means there will be no indoor dining allowed. Joanne Webster, President of and CEO of the San Rafael Chamber of Commerce encourages people to continue to support local products.

"Restaurants have worked so hard this year to stay in business. Now the rainy season is upon us, which makes utilizing outdoor spaces nearly impossible.
