Earthquake

Think:
if a disaster (say a major earthquake) hit right now, what would injure me? Prevent items from moving:

    • install inexpensive childproof latcheson cabinets doors
    • attach industrial strength velcro to bottom of heavy objects

(TV, stereo, PC)

  • attach putty to bottom of vases and other items on tables and shelves
  • Fasten shelves securely to walls
  • Place large or heavy objects on lower shelves

Place flashlight & sturdy shoes next to everyone's bed

Store chemicals on bottom shelf in closed original labelled containers

Locate and learn to operate utility shutoffs (gas, electrical, water)

Have a spare non-cordless telephone for making calls with no electricity

Properly dispose of any hazardous materials not needed anymore

DO NOT

If possible, do not place a bed directly under a window
(glass may shatter)
