Tupan Patera is a volcanic depression, about 47 miles (75 kilometers) across, surrounded by cliffs about 3,000 feet (900 meters) tall. The color is only slightly enhanced from what the human eye would see. The red in the image includes a small amount of infrared energy. Tupan Patera is named after a Brazilian thunder god. Resolution is 135 meters (443 feet) per picture element. Shows varied results of lava interacting with sulfur-rich materials.
