Marin County COVID Status Improving
Marin is Upgraded to the Next Tier!
On October 27, Marin County was upgraded one level from red to orange. California Department of Public Health has moved Marin County from tier 2 to tier 3. The COVID pandemic still remains, but individuals that have been infected have decreased.
Tier 3 allows:
- Allowed indoors at full capacity: retail establishments; indoor malls; libraries; office space (although continued telework is encouraged for all types of office work)
- Allowed indoors at 50% capacity or 200 people (whichever is fewer): restaurants; museums; places of worship; movie theaters
- Allowed indoors at 25% capacity or 100 people (whichever is fewer): gyms and fitness centers (and can utilize indoor pools); family entertainment centers; wineries; card rooms.
- Allowed outdoors only: bars and breweries (no meal requirements).
Switch from "Shelter in Place" to "Risk Reduction Order"
In addition, also on October 27, the Risk Reduction Order replaced the Shelter in Place Order and acknowledges the improved condition of COVID-19 in the county. Marin County has increased its capacity to detect current cases, contain the spread, treat infected patients and improved the investigation for contact tracing.
The Risk Reduction Order is for each individual, business and other entities in the county. All people are still encouraged to stay at home to reduce the risk of getting infected. Planning to go out? These rules are still strictly implemented:
