Kahl Consultants Thunderbird Just Went Supernova

The Mozilla Firefox browser is a well-known web browser, one that we highly recommend. Another Mozilla open-source software we are excited about is their email client, which is called Thunderbird.

Thunderbird is a free and open-source email, newsfeed, chat, and calendaring client, that’s easy to set up and customize. Like Firefox, Thunderbird is built on open standards and big on privacy.  Why is that a huge deal? Since Thunderbird is funded by donations it does not collect your personal data, there are no ads, and no AI studying your private conversations.

So what is going on with Thunderbird? A brand new version is out called Supernova, available on Mac, PC, and Linux. This version 115 is the fastest yet with many new features.

What's so cool about the new Thunderbird?

  • Revamped Toolbar
  • Redesigned Inbox
  • Calendar Redesign
  • Improved Menu
  • Density Control

Are you a current Thunderbird user? Check out this comparison of new and old versions.

If you plan to update Thunderbird's freshly baked Supernova package, waiting a few weeks before your update is a good idea. Definitely wait until it is available as an automatic update. As with any software updates, be sure to make full backups first. And please tell us about your experience!
