Counterfeit Dollar Bills in Circulation in Marin County

Counterfeit dollar bills If you have a retail business in Marin County check all currency thoroughly!

In April 2016 several retail stores in downtown San Rafael received counterfeit $50 and $100 bills.

Some counterfeit bills (including those passed in downtown San Rafael in 2016) appear as washed, worn $100 or $50 bills, but are actually a $5 bill that has been bleached and imprinted upon. Because it is a real $5 bill, counterfeit pens will not detect it as counterfeit.

Please be on alert and call your local police if you notice unusual behavior.
