Top Ten On-Page SEO Tweaks

On-Page SEO means optimizing a website for the search engines and users to improve its ranking and overall end users experience. Below are some tips and guidelines in alignment with search engine standards for your website to increase its ranking.

1. Improved Block Editor
   1. a short paragraph describing your business
   2. Services offered
   3. Promotional details
2. Add internal links using keywords. I.e. link from a relevant page/pages to another and use keywords in the link instead of the “click here” or “read more” phrase.
3. All phone numbers must be in tap-to-call format.
4. Go over all pages and add keywords to meta tags (Home page first):
   1. title tag
   2. description tag
Caveat: Any words used in the tags MUST be included in the body text of that page. Check to make sure all the keywords in the tags are also found in the text body on that page.
5. Make sure that there are no broken links or duplicate tags on any pages in your website.
6. Include HTML heading (H1, H2, H3) tags in the correct order.
7. Improve usability.
   1. Make sure all your FONT types, sizes, and colors are uniform. Don't use more than 4 different font styles per page.
   2. Reduce the number of visible Menu items on the home page to < 8. Hide some menu items as submenus or pull-down menus within other menu items.
   3. Increase body font size so it is easier to read.
   4. Convert text in images and PDFs to HTML
8. Integrate video
   1. Add videos to the YouTube channel we created for you and embed these videos in your site
   2. Be sure to use keywords in the title and descriptive text for each Youtube video.
9. Add more images.
   1. Minimum of one photo or video per page.
   2. Include ALT tags in all images and include appropriate key phrases.
   3. LINK each image to some other relevant page
   4. Optimize all images for web use; ensure that the uploaded image file size is no more than 100kb.
10. Create a NEWS page and share it on your business’s social media accounts.

Joomla! 3.6 Now Out!

The Joomla! Project has released Joomla! 3.6 with more than 400 improvements, including many features which make administration of Joomla! Web sites easier and more feature-rich, as well as many UX (user experience) improvements.

Going from Joomla! 3.5 to 3.6 is a one-click update and not a migration. It can typically be done without any diffculties, but this also depends on the components and extensions that your Joomla! site is using.
