Why on Earth all the Fuss about Earth Day?

Happy Earth DayHappy Earth Day from Kahl Consultants to all our friends, colleagues and clients around the globe!

Earth Day is an annual event to highlight the importance of making EVERY DAY a day to protect the Earth.

Anually since 1969 the world celebrates International Earth Day on the March Equinox (that's normally on Marin 21). A second Earth Day founded in 1970 is celebrated in many countries each year on April 22. It is so popular in the United States that many communities celebrate Earth Week this week, an entire week of activities focused on environmental issues. And three's the charm: In 1972 the UNEP established World Environment Day which is celebrated on 5 June every year to raise global awareness for environmental action.

Some folks are critical of Earth Day because it has come to symbolize the marginalization of environmental sustainability. It's a valid point, but Kahl Consultants supports all events that highlight environmental protection measures as a good idea, especially if they make it fun to learn about everyday environmental action.

We encourage everyone to incorporate environmentally friendly practices into their personal lives as well as their business practices. Reduce your consumption. Conserve resources. Take a walk in the park. Shower with a friend!

During Earth Week we encourage you to do some volunteer work in your community. There is no shortage of such work and it is easy to find events in your neighborhood. Here in Marin County you can visit the MY EARTH DAY MARIN website for a list and map of local events where you can help make a difference:
